Aprendizaje emocional y social a lo largo de la vida. Ámbito educativo, social y organizacional. Jornada Internacional: 15 de Octubre (Kursaal).

Presentation

Emotions are present in our lives right from the moment of our birth, and even before, and play a key role in the construction of our personality and in the way in which we relate to others. Socio-emotional skills are also related to individual and collective wellbeing, as well as to improved quality of work. As a result, life-long emotional and social learning is considered a key element in many different fields. In the educational field, it is important in order to guarantee the healthy, comprehensive development of children; in the social-community field it helps reduce burnout and improve the quality of services provided; and in business contexts, it serves to enhance innovation levels.

In light of this, the Gipuzkoa Provincial Government’s Innovation and Knowledge Society Department believes that the promotion of social intelligence is a key strategy for integrating people, their life environment and their socioeconomic context into the so-called knowledge society. We have therefore made a firm commitment, in line with Gipuzkoa’s strategic objective, to turn our province into a balanced region that combines the human, physical dimension with a solid grounding in values and our own, unique, dynamic culture, open at all times to both the other Basque provinces and the world at large. We strive to become an emotionally intelligent province, committed to ensuring the best future for upcoming generations, guaranteeing the wellbeing of all and providing an innovative, creative, competitive and sustainable place in which to live and work.

The International Workshop on Life-Long Emotional and Social Learning presented here forms part of the Gipuzkoa Provincial Government’s strategic plan and aims to offer an opportunity to present and interchange with society information regarding the latest theoretical-practical breakthroughs in three specific areas: Education, Organisations and Social-Community. During the course of the conference, the results obtained in the assessments of various socio-emotional learning initiatives launched by the Gipuzkoa Provincial Government’s Innovation and Knowledge Society Department will also be presented
